16 A greeting to the same man. Shepherd, the summit of honor, priest venerable in the citadel [of the Church], and kindly glory of the fathers, the love of religion; glory of the bishops, devout palm of merit, Gregory, a head noble by rightful claim as your rank rises; Fortunatus, who asks that the help of Olympus [heaven] be granted, through you, dear father, brings this about: act, that he may be found worthy.
