To his lord Faustus, Ennodius the deacon. Those who happen to belong to you are deprived of guardianship without loss: paternal supports are not lacking to those whom you cherish. I speak of Lupicinus, the son of our Euprepia: to him pertains the aforesaid general principle, concerning whose property the exalted man, your devotee, Count Tancila, told me that it would be grievous to be reported by our lord the king. The matter was obtained. For he asserts that all the small resources of his mother have been seized by Torisa and by others. There was nothing else that I could offer to the misfortune of the orphan, except that I should inform your attention and discharge the office of a truthful reporter. It is yours, with God inspiring, to provide on behalf of the wretched boy something that may help: it fell to me to make known the things that were disclosed to me.
