The trials of the Alexandrian church demonstrate this, in which the affliction and endurance of the humble has heaped up for itself many treasures of patience, because the Lord is near to those who are troubled in heart, and he will save the humble in spirit; the faith of the renowned prince having been glorified in all things, through whom the right hand of the Lord has wrought power, lest upon the throne of the blessed fathers the reproach of antichrist should sit any longer; whose impiety harmed no one more than himself, because, although he drove certain men into the fellowship of his crime, he nonetheless stained himself inexpiably with blood. Hence, concerning that which the election of clergy and people and of all the faithful has accomplished in your fraternity by the prompting of faith, I write back that the whole church of the Lord rejoices together with me; and I greatly desire that the kindness of the divine mercy may confirm this with multiplied grace, in such a way that, with your devotion serving in all things, even those who [...] to the truth to some degree [...]
