Letter 261

To the Same. Christ our Master, who at his birth opened the undefiled womb, himself also, after he had been born, sealed the womb by his own wisdom and power and working of wonders, in no way loosening the seals of virginity. And every right-minded person would confess together that this is the work of God.

Ὁ ἐν τῷ τίκτεσθαι ἀνοίξας τὴν ἀμόλυντον μήτραν Δεσπότης ἡμῶν Χριστός, αὐτὸς καὶ μετὰ τὸ τεχθῆναι τὴν μήτραν ἐσφράγισεν οἰκείᾳ σοφίᾳ, καὶ δυνάμει, καὶ θαυματοποιΐᾳ, μηδόλως παραλύσας τῆς παρθενίας τὰ σήμαντρα. Θεοῦ δὲ ἔργον τοῦτο πᾶς τις εὐφρονῶν συνομολογήσειεν.
