Of Pope Hormisdas, to Anastasia. (A.D. 519, on the 9th of July.) That, on account of the full extinguishing of the dissension, she should join her own prayers to the prayers of the pontiff. Hormisdas to Anastasia. After our God had made firm the members of his Church as they returned into their former peace, you testify that you had long desired this; and we indeed, rejoicing that it has come to pass, ceaselessly entreat the divine mercy, that just as it has graciously accepted these first-fruits of the reign, so it may ever aid the faith of a good prince with every effect of prosperity, and may guard both him and you all in the most sacred love of religion, so that, those whose faith has cast off the error of that most wicked dissension, you too may flourish on earth in such a way that the recompense of eternal salvation may follow after. Now therefore do you also join your prayers with ours, and implore with all the strength given by God: that all the churches may follow the example of this correction, so that the devil may rejoice that nothing has remained to him, whom our concord now rejoices to have shut out almost entirely.
