Letter 4109: I am entrusting you with the visitation of the church of Capua, which is in need of the kind of pastoral oversight...

To Bishop Gaudentius. He enjoins upon him the visitation of the Church of Capua. Gregory to Gaudentius, bishop of Nola. Since Fuscus, bishop of the Church of Capua, while residing in the city of Rome, has departed from this life, it has been our care -- that care which is bestowed by us upon all the Churches -- to direct these present letters to your Fraternity, so that you may come as visitor to the said Church; yet in such a way that you shall not suffer anything to be presumed by anyone concerning the promotions of clerics, the revenue, the furnishings, the ministries, or whatever may belong to the aforesaid place. Rather, it befits you to exhibit all vigilance and caution regarding the clergy and people of that same Church, so that in the vigils and ecclesiastical service they ought to serve diligently and devoutly, to the end that by the insistence and exhortation of your Fraternity they may so present themselves in the divine service that their obedience may be found beyond reproach.
