19 To the same person, in thanks for an estate bestowed. Along a bountiful path your page has sped its course, the page which your love brings forth in sweetly flowing song, in which, as it happened, mention was made of the gift of the place where the headlong Vigenna [the river Vienne] breaks its waters upon the shore, and where, while the boatman is borne along in his swelling hull, he beholds the cultivated acres when he sings his rowing-chant. Thanks I render, dear one, you who are filled with the fruit of devotion, you who provide the means whereby a fitting summit may be multiplied. And even apart from these things, whatever is held by you is mine: every flock has in its fields what you, good shepherd, possess.
