Letter 7022: Ad Bosonem referendarium

XXII To Boso the referendary [a royal official who drafted and authenticated official documents] So may the Almighty shield the gleaming summits of the king, and may the powers on high govern his affairs; so may the divine power preserve both lord and servants, and may the welfare of the homeland abide under his rule; so may the supreme and holy Author from on high reach out His own hand to the gracious king, He who once stretched it forth to Peter; so may the favor of the long-lived king attend you, and while he flourishes may you reap settled joys: this I ask, that whoever is summoned may come as quickly as possible, lest a sluggish delay weigh further upon my spirits. For when a fixed resolve has determined something, it is wont to be sweeter if it hastens the wish with speed. And this above all I beg through pleading words, that I be commended to my lord by your remembering me. May he abide, outstanding in his deeds, happy through the ages, and himself mindful of me. Sweet friend, farewell.

XXII Ad Bosonem referendarium Sic tegat omnipotens radiantia culmina regis atque eius causas anna superna regant, sic dominum ac servos divina potentia servet et patriae maneat hoc dominante salus, sic placido regi summus pius auctor ab alto, qui dedit ante Petro, porrigat ipse manum, sic te longaevi comitetur gratia regis et florente illo gaudia fixa metas: hoc rogo, quam citius veniat quicumque iubetur, ne gravet ultra animos hic mora tarda meos. nam festinato, statuit quod certa voluntas, si votum adceleret, dulcius esse solet. illud enim nimium per verba precantia posco, commender domino te memorante meo. actibus excellens maneat per saecula felix et memor ipse mei, dulcis amice? vale.
