25. To Abbot Paternus, concerning the corrected book. We have obeyed your orders at last, venerable priest, you who, Paternus, rightly govern the duty that befits your name, and who, adorning the altars of Christ by your own merits, render to God by prayer as much as by vow the things that will please him. Yet I beg you, give way if perchance any error has escaped me: for this hand of mine is wont to commit such a slip. May the page now sent obtain only this favor of greeting, and when you read it over again, may you be willing to remember me.

XXV Ad Paternum abbatem de codice emendato Paruimus tandem iussis, venerande sacerdos, nominis officium iure, Paterne, regens, qui propriis meritis ornans altaria Christi tam prece quam voto das placitura deo. supplico, cede tamen, si quid me forte fefellit: nam solet iste meas error habere manus. obtineat supplex modo pagina missa salutis, haec quoque cum relegis me memorare velis.
