The diversity of opinions has long made us anxious about your welfare and about the character of the undertaking you assumed, especially since over so long a time we have been unable to learn anything certain from any letter of your loving fellowship. We, nevertheless, having found the opportunity of a bearer, have preferred to convey these very things. Wherefore, greeting you, know that by the aid of almighty God we are unharmed, which we also desire to hear concerning you. But, so that you may more fully inform our knowledge about all the things that have been done, declare to us by all means through letters dispatched in turn: by what persons and in what places you were received well, as we believe; or where, and under what celebration of the Lord's resurrection, your charity kept the day; and what you did thereafter, so that you may be able to relieve our anxious thought concerning your prosperity and that of your dealings, and so that, if anything in the matter was lacking to the instruction which you received, we may be able, with the comfort of our God, to supply it.
