To Peter the Subdeacon. Gregory to Peter the Subdeacon. In proportion as reverence is shown to the apostolic see by the other Churches, so much the more does it befit that see to be solicitous in their protection. And because the houses, lands, and possessions belonging to the Church of Tauromenium by right are said by the agents [...] of our Church to have been granted [...] we assign to you the page of this present injunction, to the end that, the truth being ascertained, if it is so, you may restore to the aforesaid Church all the things that you learn to have been seized, according to its former rights. But since it has come to us that, while Bishop Victorinus was still living, monies of the same Church were lost, we will that, for the recovery of these, you afford support to Secundinus, our brother and fellow bishop, and that you assist in the interests of the same Church, wherever it shall be necessary, with equity preserved. For make haste so to carry into effect all the things contained in the page of this injunction, that you yourself may be praised in the reports of the aforesaid bishop for the equity you have observed.
