Letter 16

To the same man. We have received the Spirit, as the Apostle says [1 Corinthians 2:12], not so that we might know with precision what the nature of God is, but so that we might understand the countless good corrections graciously bestowed upon us by God, which we also expound to those who are being made disciples.

Τὸ Πνεῦμα εἰλήφαμεν, καθὼς ὁ Ἀπόστολος, οὐχ ἵνα ἐπιστάμεθα τίς ἐστι κατὰ τὴν ἀκρίβειαν ἡ φύσις τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἀλλ᾽ ἵνα νοήσωμεν τὰ ὑπὸ τοῦ Θεοῦ χαρι- σθέντα ἡμῖν μυρία ἀγαθὰ διορθήματα, ἅπερ καὶ διαλεγόμεθα τοῖς μαθητευομένοις.
