Letter 813: Brachinus is a veteran of that campaign through which you accomplished so many great things in our region.

To Modestus. (363) Brachinus is one of those who served in that campaign through which the many great things were accomplished by you among us, and to me he became a close acquaintance later on, and I praise the man. I should therefore wish that Basilides—there is a brother of his own wife—report to us how gladly you would see him; and he has come to look over some houses which they own and to set the rest of their affairs in good order. If, then, he should have any need of the court, let him plead his case with the benefit of your goodwill.

Μοδέστῳ. (363) Γῆς στρατείας εἷς ἐστιν ἐκείνης Βραχῖνος, δι᾿ ἧς τὰ πολλὰ καὶ μεγάλα πέπρακταί σοι παρ’ ἡμῖν, ἐμοὶ δὲ γέγονε συνήθης ὕστερον, καὶ τὸν ἄνδρα ἐπαινῶ βουλοίμην ἂν οὖν Βασιλείδην, ἔστι οἱ αὐτῷ γυναικὸς ἀδελφός, ἀγγεῖλαι ἡμῖν ὡς ἡδέως αὐτὸν ἴδοις ἀφῖκται δὲ οἰκίας τι ἃς ἔχουσιν ὀψόμενος καὶ τἄλλα εὖ θησόμενος ἢν οὖν τι καὶ τοῦ δικαστηρίου δεηθῇ, μετὰ τῆς σῆς εὐνοίας ἀγωνιζέσθω.
