I was filled with great joy, because concerning the peace of the Church I found, both in the most holy emperor and in your beloved self, such zeal as [...] [The remainder of the letter body is not preserved in the legible source text, which here passes into the editor's critical apparatus (manuscript variant readings and notes on the printed editions). According to that apparatus, this letter (Epistula 236 of the Collectio Avellana) was first edited from the Avellana collection by Carolus [Baluze], P. 560, followed by Baronius at the year 521, section 18; by Fronto Ducaeus in his edition of the commentaries of John Zonaras (Lutetia Parisiorum, 1618), p. 665; in the Collectio Conciliorum; in BT I, 141; and by Thiel, 970. It is found besides in the Hispana collection (ed. Gonzalez II, no. 93, p. 150), from which it passed into the Pseudo-Isidorian collection (ed. Hinschius, p. 691). In the Hispana the heading reads: "Of Pope Hormisdas to Epiphanius, Bishop of Constantinople. To his most beloved brother Bishop Epiphanius, Hormisdas."]
